Thin film silicon

In thin film silicon (amorphous and micromorphous), a thin layer of absorber is usually deposited onto glass coated with a Transparent Conductive Oxide (TCO) which serves as the front electrode.

The main properties of the coated glass are

  • its transparency,
  • its morphology and
  • its electrical conductivity.

When correctly used, the TCO-coated glass can significantly improve the efficiency of the module by trapping light in the absorber layer.
